Lacey Schmidt

Psy.D.

Lacey Schmidt is a clinical psychologist and a certified mindfulness and meditation teacher. She received her Psy.D. in 2012 and has worked in a variety of settings in Wisconsin including corrections, a VA residential program, and a large healthcare organization. Lacey’s training in mindfulness and meditation greatly influences her approach with clients. Her own experience with mindfulness practice and how it can be invaluable to get through tough times, led her to become a certified mindfulness and meditation teacher so that she can teach others these transformative skills in the context of therapy.

She specializes in working with parents who are either experiencing stress and burnout from parenting or struggling to navigate other life stressors and challenges while being a parent.  She also specializes in working with adults who experience stress and anxiety that are getting in the way of fully engaging in and enjoying life.

Lacey meets her clients where they’re at with a genuine, down-to-earth approach. She compassionately helps clients face difficult emotions and situations, and then finds ways to work through them. She also brings humor, lightness, and laughter to therapy when appropriate. She uses a foundation of
mindfulness-based therapy to develop awareness and acceptance of the present moment, which includes what is going on around us and within us, so that we can respond in skillful ways. In addition to mindfulness strategies, she teaches CBT strategies to develop more balanced thinking and healthy
behaviors (engaging in enjoyable, productive, or self-care activities).
