Emily Schwabe

Clinical Counseling Intern

Emily (she/her) enjoys working with youth, young adults and adults on concerns including but not limited to sports performance, sport injury, confidence, life transitions, anxiety, depression, stress and trauma. A large part of Emily’s practice is dedicated to working with student-athletes to address mental health and sports performance, with goals to help athletes strengthen their “inner edge” and realize their greatest potential.

Emily strives to build a trusting, safe and inclusive space where clients can be their true selves and we, as a team, can work towards their unique therapy goals. Emily believes in utilizing a holistic approach that integrates physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of an individual while also considering their own unique identity, interpersonal relationships, values and beliefs as we work together.  In her free time, Emily loves spending time with her family, spending time outside and being active in a wide variety of ways.

Emily is working under the supervision of Paula Witt as an intern while completing her master’s degree at Marquette University’s Clinical Mental Health graduate program. Emily also holds a master’s degree in Sport & Exercise Psychology from Southern Illinois-University Edwardsville.

As part of our internship program, there will be a licensed therapist who works alongside the therapist in training.  The graduate intern has already had experience providing psychotherapy and the purpose of the internship is to truly allow them to grow within themselves as a therapist and gain additional competency in therapy skills.  We have a licensed therapist that will be present for some or all of the sessions either in person or virtually.

Emily has openings and can see new clients starting the week of January 13th.
